Thank you for using nail-inspo! Your privacy matters to us. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and what choices you have. It applies to the nail-inspo website, app, and all related services (“nail-inspo” or the “Service”).

1. Information We Collect

a. Information you provide

• Account information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, display name, and whether you register as a consumer or a Pro user (nail artist/salon professional).
• Profile information: You may optionally add a profile photo, bio, location, website, and specialties (for Pro accounts).
• Content you upload: Photos, descriptions, and metadata you provide when uploading or saving nail designs, creating boards, or building a portfolio.
• Preferences: Filter preferences, saved looks, boards, and onboarding choices (e.g., preferred nail shapes, styles, or occasions).
• Communications: If you contact us for support or send us feedback, we collect the content of those communications.

b. Information we collect automatically

• Device and browser information: Device type, operating system, browser type, screen resolution, and language settings.
• Log data: IP address, pages visited, time spent on pages, referring URLs, and the date and time of your visits.
• Usage data: How you interact with the Service — such as which looks you view, save, or filter for, searches you perform, and pages you visit. We use this to understand how the Service is used and to improve it.
• Approximate location: We infer your approximate location from your IP address (e.g., country or region). We do not collect precise GPS location.
• Cookies and similar technologies: We use cookies and local storage to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and collect analytics data. See Section 5 for more details.

c. Information from third parties

• Authentication providers: If you sign up or log in using a third-party service (such as Google), we receive basic profile information (name, email) from that provider to create or link your account.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and operate the Service: Create and manage your account, display nail designs, enable filtering and search, manage saves and boards, and deliver the core nail-inspo experience.
• Personalize your experience: Show you content relevant to your preferences, such as nail shapes, styles, or occasions you have shown interest in.
• Improve the Service: Analyze usage patterns, conduct product analytics, identify bugs, and develop new features.
• Ensure safety and enforce our terms: Detect and prevent spam, fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Service. This includes automated content moderation of uploaded images to detect inappropriate content.
• Communicate with you: Send transactional emails (e.g., account confirmation, password reset) and, where you have opted in, occasional product updates. You can unsubscribe from non-essential emails at any time.
• Comply with legal obligations: Respond to legal requests and fulfill our regulatory obligations.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your data for behavioral advertising or share it with advertising networks.

3. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA, Switzerland, UK)

If you are in the EEA, Switzerland, or the UK, we process your personal data based on the following legal grounds:

• Contract: Processing necessary to provide the Service you signed up for (e.g., account management, displaying content, enabling saves).
• Legitimate interests: Processing for our legitimate interests, such as improving the Service, ensuring security, and conducting analytics — provided these do not override your rights.
• Consent: Where we rely on your consent (e.g., optional analytics cookies or marketing emails), you can withdraw it at any time.
• Legal obligation: Processing required to comply with applicable law.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:

• Public content: Nail designs, portfolios, and profile information you choose to publish are visible to other users and may be indexed by search engines. Content saved privately (e.g., personal boards) is not shared publicly.
• Service providers: We use trusted third-party services to operate the platform. These providers process data on our behalf and are contractually obligated to protect it. Our current service providers include:

• Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, or legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of nail-inspo, our users, or the public.
• Business transfers: If nail-inspo is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change.

5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use the following types of cookies and similar technologies:

• Essential cookies: Required for the Service to function (e.g., authentication session, language preferences). These cannot be disabled.
• Analytics cookies: Used to understand how the Service is used, which pages are popular, and how we can improve. Provided by PostHog and Vercel Analytics. We use these based on legitimate interest or your consent, depending on your jurisdiction.

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. We do not participate in cross-site advertising networks.

You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may prevent parts of the Service from working correctly.

6. International Data Transfers

nail-inspo is operated from Germany, but some of our service providers (see Section 4) are based in the United States or other countries outside the EEA. When your data is transferred outside the EEA, Switzerland, or the UK, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as:

• Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission
• Adequacy decisions by the European Commission
• Provider certifications under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework

7. How Long We Keep Your Data

We retain your personal data only as long as necessary to provide the Service and fulfill the purposes described in this policy. Specifically:

• Account data: Retained as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it longer.
• Content: Nail designs and images you uploaded are deleted when you remove them or delete your account. Copies that were saved by other users may persist on their accounts.
• Analytics data: Usage and analytics data is retained in an anonymized or aggregated form and is not linked back to your identity after account deletion.
• Legal retention: Where required by law (e.g., tax or regulatory obligations), we may retain certain records for the legally mandated period.

8. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data. You can also update most information directly in your profile settings.
• Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data. You can delete your account at any time through your profile settings.
• Data portability: Request your data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
• Restriction: Ask us to restrict processing of your data in certain circumstances.
• Objection: Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
• Withdraw consent: Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.

Additional rights for EEA, Swiss, and UK residents

9. Children's Privacy

nail-inspo is not intended for anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 16, we will delete it promptly. 10. Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal data, including encryption in transit (TLS), secure authentication, and access controls. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you (for example, by email or through a notice on the Service) before the changes take effect. Your continued use of nail-inspo after the update constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy. The date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last updated.
